Heart to Heart Welcomes Caroline O'Carroll as New Board President!

Updated: Jun 3, 2021

Caroline O’Carroll learned about Heart to Heart from her friend and Board Director Monetta Edwards. Caroline was inspired and touched by what she saw on the Heart to Heart’s website. Through testimonial videos she met a graduate of the

Reentry and Reintegration program and a mom from the Heart to Heart Families Program. “I was drawn to this organization,” she says, “and the impact it has on the underserved community. I always had a natural inclination to helping others, especially friends and family. I have a passion for serving others and helping them see the best potential within themselves.”

Ms. O’Carroll’s professional skill set, project and event management, relationship building, strategic planning, and customer service, is a perfect match for the work of Heart to Heart. “I love connecting people and organizations, so I look forward to helping Heart to Heart expand its partnerships and raise funds for its growth.”

As Board President, Caroline hopes to expand Heart to Heart offerings in Boston and other areas in Massachusetts. She lives in Melrose, MA. “The big focus through the end of 2021 is growing Heart to Heart Families Program by partnering with new

organizations and providing training in nonviolent communication to families in the region.” Her largest ongoing commitment is to actively seek supporters, whether donors or partners for Heart to Heart’s programs.

Earlier in her career, the necessities of making a living prohibited Caroline from also joining the board of a nonprofit. Now that she is working as a freelancer with her own company, she has more flexibility. “Now it feels so rewarding to make an impact on people’s lives.”

Once the Covid-restrictions are lifted, Heart to Heart plans to expands its Reentry and Reintegration programs in Massachusetts. Executive Director Steve Tumolo is already building relationships with prison administrators with the intent to bring training into their facilities as we have done in Philadelphia and New Jersey.

In addition to being Board President and head of her own company, Caroline considers herself CEO of her household of five. When she is not shuffling her children, ages 13, 10, and 9 to their activities or sports, she is spending time with her family and friends. “Being a mom is important to me; I strive to have a good work/family balance,” she says. Thank you, Caroline, for making Heart to Heart a priority in your life! Another thank you to Board Member Monetta Edwards who is responsible for recruiting Caroline!
